How to Connect Future Task to Claude with MCP

Future Task now speaks directly to Claude. With the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can create tasks, log habits, and schedule events without opening the app — just by asking your assistant.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard, created by Anthropic, that lets AI assistants like Claude connect securely to external tools and apps. Once connected, Claude can act on your behalf inside that app — reading your data and making changes — always within the permissions you grant.

What you can do once it's connected

The Future Task connector currently supports six actions from inside Claude: create a task, list today's tasks, reschedule a task, create a habit, list your habits, and create a calendar event. Everything happens against your real Future Task account, so anything Claude creates shows up in your app immediately.

Step 1: Copy your connector URL

On the Future Task homepage, scroll to the "Connect Future Task to your Claude" section (or jump straight there from the MCP link in the top menu) and copy the connector URL shown there: future-task.com/api/mcp.

Step 2: Add it in Claude

In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste the URL you copied. Claude will walk you through logging in to your Future Task account and authorizing the connection — nothing happens until you approve it.

Step 3: Try it out

Once connected, try prompts like: "Add 'Finish quarterly report' to my tasks for tomorrow", "What's on my list today?", "Create a habit to read 20 minutes every day", or "Reschedule my lowest priority task to next week". Claude handles the request and Future Task reflects it right away.

A few tips

The connection only acts within the permissions you approve, and everything it creates is tied to your own logged-in account — nobody else's data is touched. This is the first piece of Future Task's AI-assistant roadmap, so expect more actions to become available over time.
